About Your Instructor
Brian Iwama
My journey with Kumon began as a student from kindergarten through middle school. Later, I worked at the Chino Hills and Diamond Bar Centers for over 10 years, where I had the pleasure of guiding and motivating students from diverse backgrounds. During that time, I received my multiple-subject credentials to teach in elementary school and middle school (mathematics). I furthered my career to teach English as a foreign language in Japan.
Now, I have owned and operated the Kumon of La Verne as the Head Instructor since 2019.
Beyond Kumon, I have coached different basketball clubs throughout the years to give back to my community. Both Kumon and sports have similarities that focus more on indirect learning. Students are taught one thing, but also learn something deeper and more valuable. It's about recognizing that the most important lessons in life are learned subtly, not through direct instruction. These simple activities and lessons can lead to significant personal growth and valuable life skills.
Children show remarkable growth when they are given the opportunity. I am dedicated to providing your child with comprehensive support and guidance.
