About Your Instructor

Erin Volner

Welcome! I am Erin Volner, the Instructor and Director of the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Pukalani.

With over 30 years of experience in education—including 18 years as an elementary school teacher on Maui and 12 years serving in admissions and registration—my passion has always been guiding young learners toward success. As a mother of two Kumon alumni, I have seen firsthand how the Kumon Method builds strong academic foundations, critical thinking skills, and self-reliance.

At our Upcountry Maui center, we embrace the philosophy of Kaizen—continuous, step-by-step improvement. We partner closely with families across Makawao, Haiku, Kula, Paia, and Pukalani to help students develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. Whether working with traditional pencil-and-paper worksheets or digitally via Kumon Connect, every student receives an individualized study plan tailored to their unique pace and potential.

How Does the Assessment Work?

Your free assessment helps us understand your child’s current learning level so we can recommend the best starting point. During the assessment, your child will complete a placement test, and the instructor will review the results with you and explain how the Kumon Program can support your child’s individual learning needs.

There is no obligation to enroll, and you can reschedule your appointment at any time.
